<p>This invention provides a Stat5-specific protease polypeptide. In one embodiment, the Stat5-specific protease is a partially-purified protease. In another embodiment, the Stat5-specific protease is a recombinant protease. This invention provides an antibody which specifically binds to the Stat5-specific protease. In one embodiment, the antibody is polyclonal antibody. In another embodiment, the antibody is a monoclonal antibody. This invention provides a method for identifying a compound that inhibits a Stat5-specific protease which comprises: (a) incubating the protease with a suitable substrate; (b) administering the compound to the incubation of step (a); (c) measuring the amount of cleaved substrate produced in the presence of the compound in step (b); and (d) comparing the amount of cleaved substrate measured in step (c) with the amount produced in the absence of the compound so as to thereby identify the compound that inhibits the Stat5-specific protease.</p> |
