An air brake adjustment tool is described. The air brake adjustment tool is used in almost every step of a pre-trip check or inspection of an air brake s ystem and for any subsequent adjustment of the air brake settings. The air brake adjus tment tool comprises a shaft having a first end and a second end. The first end is arr anged to have a substantially "T"-like shape. As a result of this arrangement, the fir st end of the air brake adjustment tool is used as a handle and as a general use hammer. Specifically, the first end is used to check tire inflation and wheel tightness by tapping the lug nuts or lug nut spacer. The second end of the air brake adjustment tool comprises a claw member and a plurality of sockets. The claw member extends laterally from the shaft and comprises a base and two arms. The claw member is used, for example, to adjust the positioning of the brake pads. The plurality of sockets comprise a rear socket, two side sockets and a tip socket. The sockets are used to adjust the slack adjusters so that the brake travel is of the desired length. Th us, the air brake adjustment tool provides a quick and easy method for checking and adjusting air brake systems. Obviously, frequent inspection of air brake setting s dramatically decreases the likelihood of air brake failure.
