PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a waveform-generating device which can be reduced in cost and can generate a pseudo-sinusoidal wave of a low distortion rate without adjustments. SOLUTION: A waveform-generating device is provided with a reference voltage generating section 2, which generates a high-voltage side reference DC voltage and a low-voltage side reference DC voltage which become nearly symmetrical voltages with respect to a reference voltage, a voltage-selecting section 3 which respectively inputs the high-voltage side reference DC voltage, low-voltage side reference DC voltage, and reference voltage to independent three input sections and generates an approximately sinusoidal wave which is a stepped tamp wave approximated to a sinusoidal wave, by successively outputting one of the voltages to an output section in accordance with a select signal, and a select signal generating section 5 which generates the select signal for making the reference voltage, high-voltage side reference DC voltage, and a low-voltage side reference DC voltage to be outputted from a selecting section in each section, from 0 toπ/3, fromπto 4π/3, fromπ/3 toπ, and from 4π/3 to 2πin a single period of the approximately sinusoidal wave.
