PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent remote control from being adverted by providing a chopper on the front stage of an inverter circuit and appropriately determining output voltage of the chopper, in a discharge lamp lighting device to be controlled by an infrared ray remote control signal. SOLUTION: In this discharge lamp lighting device, an AC source 1 is supplied to an inverter circuit 6 provided with a pair of switching elements 5, 5 to be alternately opened and closed and connected in series through a rectifier 2, a chopper 3 and a smoothing condenser 4 connected to an output of the chopper 3 in parallel, the output of the inverter circuit 6 is connected to a discharge lamp 7 through a series circuit of a first condenser C1 and a choke coil L, a second condenser C2 is connected on the secondary side of the discharge lamp 7 in parallel, the rated lighting oscillation frequency fl of the inverter circuit 6 in rated lighting of the discharge lamp 7 is set lower than the unloading resonance frequency f0 of the first condenser C1, the choke coil L and the≃cond condenser C2 in lighting-off of the discharge lamp 7, and the inverter circuit 6 is controlled by the output of a receiving part 8 for receiving an infrared ray remote control signal R through a control circuit 9. |
