PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remove an image formed on a recording material without damaging the recording material, to keep the security and to reuse the recording material by incorporating a surfactant, a carboxylic acid compd. with substituents of hydrophilic groups in theα-position and/or an alcohol compd. with substituents of hydrophilic groups in theα-position, and water into an image removing accelerating liquid. SOLUTION: This image removing accelerating liquid contains at least one kind of surfactant, at least one kind of carboxylic acid compd. with substituents of hydrophilic groups in theα-position and/or an alcohol compd. with substituents of hydrophilic groups in theα-position, and at least water. As for the hydrophilic groups, hydroxyl groups, amino groups, carboxyl groups, sulfonate groups or these salts can be used. A layer which is swollen wit the liquid is formed near the surface of the recording material where an image is formed in such a manner that a thermoplastic or thermally fusing image forming material is stuck in a film state to the layer. By the effect like a surfactant of the compds. above described, image removing characteristics can be improved and no traces of images are left, while the amt. of the image removing accelerating liquid to be used can be decreased.
