PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the liquid crystal display device which has high reliability and is impressive. SOLUTION: An active matrix array substrate 10 which has pixel electrodes 17 arranged in matrix in its display area 14 and a counter substrate 11 which has a common electrode 21 are arranged opposite each other across gap 12, the peripheries of both the substrates are adhered together with a sealant 13 while surrounding the display area 14, and a liquid crystal composition 16 is sandwiched in the gap 12. Then a peripheral liquid shield layer 24 is formed at the outer peripheral part of the display area 14 where the pixel electrodes 17 of the active matrix array substrate 10 are arranged and the sealant 13 contains dispersed light-absorptive pigment. |
