LENGTH MEASURING METHOD AND DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To visualize a measuring program to facilitate creation and editing of the measuring program by superposing an indicated coordinate on a master coordinate image expressing the coordinate of a measuring table to be displayed at the time of creating and editing the measuring program. SOLUTION: A visual field of an image take up means 7 is moved by a joy stick 3b and a jogging knob 3c, and moved in such a manner that a reticule is positioned in a reference line formed in a reference material to be measured while observing an image area in the visual field. The reticule is matched with a vertical part and a horizontal part of the reference line and stored to set a reference coordinate. Subsequently the reference coordinate is superposed on the master coordinate image area to be displayed. After that, a desired place to be measured is indicated by the operator. An image area in the visual field is observed and moved in such a manner that the reticule is positioned in a measuring place by a joy stick 3b and a knob 3c, and a switch is pressed to store the reticule. Thus, an object corresponding to the place to be measured is superposed on the master coordinate image area to be displayed.
