PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a detection error and to obtain accurate reproduced information by recognizing whether a signal detected from one record dot by a signal recognizing means is one signal or a pair of signal, and specifying an arrangement of a signal by a signal processing means, when a record dot is detected by a probe. SOLUTION: Recording information is constituted with record dots of a grating-shape having fixed interval on a recording medium 4. The prescribed bias voltage is applied to a point between the probe 1 and an electrode substrate 5, a current flowing in a recording medium 4 is detected by a current signal detecting circuit 15, converted to a voltage signal and amplified, while after a DC component and a high frequency noise are cut, it is sent to a signal recognizing section 10. And a detection position of the signal is corresponded to probe position information from a control section 9, it is judged whether the signal is one signal or a pair of signal from a parallel symmetry of a detection position. When a signal is a pair of signal, a signal processing section 11 decides an arrangement of a signal, sends it to the control section 9, and recorded information is reproduced conforming to the arrangement decision result of the signal.
