PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To recognize a less jammed road at a look by changing the height of the ground surface of a map displayed by a bird's eye view method according to the required passing estimate time of each road link calculated according to traffic snarl information. SOLUTION: A navigation system comprises a traffic snarl information input part for receiving a signal of a traffic information service and a processing unit for storing a navigation program and executing the same. The road map information of the concerned area is read-in, taking the display reference point as a current spot as a base to be coordinate-transformed to a bird's eye view form. Subsequently, concerning all road links contained in the display object area, the traffic snarl level based on the snarl information is set, and the arrival estimate time is calculated by using the average speed forecast from the level. According to the time, the arrival level is set, and a plotted line is compressed in the longitudinal direction at the level change point in the road links, and the level change points are connected to each other and painted out, whereby it is recognized that the road 5 is empty. |
