PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simultaneously measure information on plural vehicles and vehicles different in the directions of travel by taking the vehicles traveling on a road and recognizing the movements of the respective vehicles on a picture as motion vectors. SOLUTION: A picture input means 12 is arranged above the road of a single lane or plural lanes so that the whole vehicle pass band of the road can be taken and it transmits the obtained picture to a picture analysis means 20. In the picture analysis means 20, a vectoring means 30 makes the movement of an image into the vector based on an arbitrary fixed point at time to and a shift position after the time Δt of the picture at the point. A vehicle recognition means 40 recognizes the vehicle based on the obtained motion vector. A travel information processing means 50 analyzes the motion vector recognizes as the vehicle and measures travel information of the vehicle. When obtained travel information of the vehicle is transmitted to a host computer 14 controlling road traffic information and traffic congestion information, traffic information in real time can be obtained. |
