PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the luminescence contrast of a display screen by forming each discharge maintaining electrode of discharge maintaining electrode pairs from a discharge maintaining electrode electrically divided into scanning line directions. SOLUTION: Discharge maintaining electrodes Xn, Yn constituting multiple discharge maintaining electrode pairs are provided on a front glass 1, and the discharge maintaining electrodes Xn, Yn are electrically divided into discharge maintaining electrodes xn, x'n, yn, y'n along the scanning line direction respectively. The discharge maintaining electrodes xn, yn are adjacently arranged at the prescribed gap across the (n)th scanning line, and discharge maintaining electrodes x'n, y'n are arranged at the prescribed gap on the outside of the discharge maintaining electrodes x'n, y'n across the (n)th scanning line respectively. The discharge maintaining electrodes Xn, Yn are covered with a dielectric layer 4, and a cathode film 5 made of MgO is provided on the dielectric layer 4. |
