PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate film formation and to obtain an electrophotographic photoreceptor excellent in environmental stability and mechanical strength and less liable to cause image defects. SOLUTION: A 1st electric charge generating layer, a 2nd electric charge generating layer and an electric charge transferring layer are successively laminated on an electrically conductive substrate to obtain the objective electrophotographic photoreceptor. The electric charge generating layers are formed by dispersing an org. pigment in a resin and satisfy the formulaσ2/σ1>=2.0 (whereσ1 is electric conductivity at the time when only the electric charge generating layers are laminated and voltage is applied with the 1st electric charge generating layer as a positive electrode andσ2 is electric conductivity at the time when only the electric charge generating layers are laminated and voltage is applied with the 2nd electric charge generating layer as a positive electrode).
