The carrier has a frame which can be mounted on a transporting vehicle and upon which is supported a bicycle holder which engages with the bicycle at a point close to the rotational connection of the pedal and crank assembly to the bicycle frame. A fixing mechanism in the form of a J-shaped hook is provided to fasten around the bicycle pedal and crank assembly to secure the bicycle on the frame of the carrier.
