METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR CHANGING THE FUNCTIONALITY OF A CONTINUOUSLY OPERATING COMPUTER SYSTEM

New functionality to be performed by computer system (1) is packaged into Control Component Libraries (CCL) (8 and 9). To implement change of functionality, a new CCL is moved from Repository Module (6) into Systems (1) and the required hardware changes are implemented. Interfaces (4, 18) and IO (17) are made dynamically linkable enabling changing from CCL 8 to CCL 9 under the control of Management Module 19. Thus, the functionality of computer system (1) is able to be modified while remaining in continuous operation without major interruption of the operation.
