Thermostat valve for coolant circuit of IC engine

The thermostat valve has a main valve on a connection aperture (14) for the cooler return line, and a path shortening circuit valve at the connection aperture (15) for an outlet from the engine. A path shortening valve dish (27) is held in position at the connection aperture by one spring (29) set for a certain differential pressure between the motor coolant input and output. When the differential pressure is exceeded, the path shortening valve lifts off the connection aperture and comes against a spring stop (31) loaded by a second spring (30) to maintain maximum possible differential pressure.
