The head (4) of the hub sleeve (3) has spoke guide slots (7,8) in which fit the spoke ends adjacent to the hub head. After insertion of the spokes they undergo a direction orientation within a plane of the hub head to the effect that they, or their imaginary extension, form a polygon through tangents on an inscribed circle around the centre of the hub axis. The flange type hub head may be configured to have first and second spoke guide slots which are direction orientated and connected to a spoke head holder (6).
