The method involves determining the actuator displacement at which the actuator unit is switched off via a torque sensor during the normal operation. A correlation is determined between the switch off torque and the allocated displacement. The allocated displacement is used as an additional switch off criterion for the actuator. Preferably, the switch off displacement value is determined by correlating the switch off torque and stored.
