Monolithic optical position sensor, e.g. to determine position of aircraft

The sensor has a homocentric objective lens (2), which contains only one lens element. The lens consists of a spherical lens enclosed by first (1) and second (3) menisci on the object and image sides respectively. A fibre plate (5) arranged after the objective lens has a hollow surface facing the objective lens, which is the same shape as the focal surface of the objective lens on the image side. The surface of the fibre plate facing away from the objective lens carries a CCD receiver. The focal surface on the image side coincides with the latter objective surface and the fibre plate is stuck directly onto it.
