Digital camera using storage medium usable by computer

The camera includes a picture detection unit (3) and a CPU (13) which stores the picture data in a storage medium (9) as a picture file in a specific format. The CPU controls a reproducing operation of a picture data file which is stored in the storage medium. The control unit has a first mode which reproduces a picture data file in a file directory which was created by the camera in the storage medium. A second mode is provided which reproduces a picture data file in a file directory which was created by the camera or by a PC in the storage medium.
