The invention concerns an articulation device for a hatchback mounted pivoting on a motor vehicle body by means of at least a swivel rod (24) whereof the first front end (28) is articulated on the body about a first articulating axis (A1), and the second rear end (32) is articulated on the hatchback about a second articulation axis (A2). Means (200, 146) borne at least partly by the rod (24), are provided operating between the hatchback and the body in particular to apply on the hatchback a balancing moment compensating the load moment resulting from the hatchback mass and/or to cause the hatchback pivoting movement to be controlled by the pivoting movement of the rod (24) first end (28). The invention is characterised in that said means are produced in the form of a module (110) adjacent to the rod (24) body and is directly mounted thereon.
