<p>Polymeric optical articles, including gradient index optical preforms and fiber produced therefrom, are described. Methods for producing the optical articles using platicizers and/or dopants in the sheathing of the articles are also described. Gradient index optical articles made according to the invention have excellent optical characteristics, enhanced mechanical properties and environmental stability, and enable more flexibility in the selection of materials.</p> |
