A strip (B) of constant thickness across its width is provided with at least one longitudinal track with reduced thickness as a result of being drawn through at least one gap (1, 2)formed by the faces of at least one working (3, 6) and one support (4, 5) roll. The working rolls (3, 6) are inclined to the strip plane in such a way that lateral forces are exerted on the strip.
