The valve tappet (1) has a hollow cylinder (2), a base (3), and a funnel (6) inside which has a guide shell (9) to take a play levelling-out element. The guide shell is overlapped by an inner shell with a longitudinal channel (23). A diverter (19) enables the oil storage cavity (18) to be emptied. The diverter has a disc-shaped sector against the inner shell and an outer shell extending from the disc-shaped sector. The outer shell forms an annular cavity (25) with the hollow cylinder. A bore (17) from the overflow aperture of the oil storage cavity leads to the annular cavity.
