Broom handle mounting

The mounting comprises a plate fixed to the broom head and with an integral socket protruding upwards from it. The bore in the socket is in line with one in the plate, the handle being inserted in both. On the walls (5) of the socket bore (3) are a set of integral tapering spikes (4) forming a locking ring (8) engaging in the surface (12) of the inserted handle (11). Thus the latter can only be removed by passing it right through the socket in the insertion direction, or by destroying the mounting. The points of the spikes can be in a plane at right angles to the axis of the socket.
