The invention concerns a therapeutic or hygienic composition, produced by extrusion or thermoforming and for external use, in particular for ophthalmic use as insert or for application on the buccal or nasal mucous membrane, or for internal use, in particular for oral administration. Said composition comprises one or several active principles substantially uniformly distributed in a matrix consisting of a material capable of extrusion or thermoforming and water soluble and/or degradable and/or erodible. The invention is characterised in that part and/or all of said active principles have each at least partially the form of a solid dispersion with a water soluble and/or degradable substance and/or capable of losing its physical coherence when brought in contact with a biological fluid, said substance being capable of neither extrusion nor thermoforming in extrusion and thermoforming conditions. The invention also concerns a method for preparing such a composition.
