CO-EXTRUDED FILMS, AND TAPE PRODUCTS AND ARTICLES OF MANUFACTURE CONTAINING THEM

A film comprising: (A) a base layer; and (B) a reinforcing layer adhered to (A); wherein (B) is made of a material that is tougher than (A), (B) forms a continuous layer over a surface of (A) and the thickness of (B) is less than 25% of the total thickness of (A) + (B). The film is useful to make tape products, which are, in turn, useful in packaging and as tear strips to open sealed packages. Preferably, base layer (A) comprises polypropylene and reinforcing layer (B) comprises polyethylene and the thickness of base layer (A) ranges from about 60 .mu.m to about 125 .mu.m and the thickness of reinforcing layer (B) ranges from about 2 .mu.m to about 10 .mu.m. More particularly, the thickness of reinforcing layer (B) ranges from about 3 .mu.m to about 5 .mu.m.
