The present invention relates to a method of manufacturing couplers for plastic optical fibre. The coupler is manufactured by fusing together the cores of two fibres into a single one by means of a hot filament. Initially, we will place the fibres opposite each other, forming an arc by means of some cylinders 1 and some fastening parts 2 with grooves. There will be a pressure between the fibres owing to the micrometer screws 3 of the platforms 4, on which the cylinder and the fastening part will be anchored. After the alignment, we will join the cores by passing a hot filament 5 horizontally between them, which will strip the surplus material and fuse them together (by the pressure existing between them). Finally, we will withdraw the result and we will cover it with a material similar to that of the jacket. <IMAGE>
