PURPOSE:To improve pit shapes and to form the recording medium in such a manner that high S/N is obtd. at the time of recording and reproducing and the good recording and reproducing can be executed by incorporating a material which contains the decomposed matter of the material of a recording layer and does not contain the material of a substrate into pit parts. CONSTITUTION:This recording medium has the recording layer 3 contg. a dyestuff on the substrate 2 and is laminated with a reflecting layer 4 and a protective layer 5 thereon in tight contact with the recording layer. The recording layer 3 is irradiated with recording light and is thereby formed with the pit parts. The layer 61 which contains the decomposed matter of the material of the recording layer and contains substantially no substrate material exists in the boundary part between the substrate 2 and the recording layer 3 of the pit parts 6. The medium exhibits a high reflective index and a large decrease in the reflective index in the pit parts 6 and, therefore, the reproduction by CD specifications is possible and the good pit shape and the high S/N are obtd. The good recording and reproducing are thus executed. |
