摘要 PURPOSE:To provide the title medium not substantially lowering printing density even when printing is performed many times and capable of permitting hue shift on a visual level by adding red-type and violet-type sublimable dyes in a dye supply layer while containing the red-type sublimable dye only in the layer on the free surface side in contact with an image receiving material in a dye transfer contribution layer. CONSTITUTION:A dye supply layer 4 wherein a sublimable dye is dispersed in an org. binder and a dye transfer contribution layer 5 are successively laminated to a substrate 1 in this order. In a sublimable type thermal transfer medium, the aforementioned dye supply layer 4 contains red-type and violet-type sublimable dyes. The layer on the free surface side in contact with an image receiving material 3 in the dye transfer contribution layer 5 contains only the red-type sublimable dye. The non- melting particulate dyes of various sublimable dyes are present in the dye supply layer 4 but not present in the dye transfer contribution layer 5. As mentioned above, since the non-melting particulate dyes are present in the dye supply layer 4 as a dye supply source, good many-time printing characteristic is kept even at a high density part and the dye concn. in the dye supply layer 4 can be kept constant at every printing of each time.
