<p>A compost bin 10 made from a sheet 12 or sheets of a readily biodegradable material with fold lines 15, 17, 19 defined on the or each sheet to form four wall sections 14, 16, 18 and 20. When the bin is assembled, the top of the bin is smaller in area than the base of the bin and the line of action of the centre of gravity of the bin acts through the base. Vent holes 34 are provided to allow ventilation. The vent holes 34 are reinforced to enable them to be used as hand holds to allow lifting of the bin. In preferred embodiment the bin is made from two separate sheets which are attached together at respective edges, each sheet having a single fold line so as to define two wall sections. A lid 88 of corresponding shape to the compost bin may be provided and the top of the lid may be open and closeable by means of a flap whereby, when the lid is inverted, it can act as a funnel. The bin may be pyramid shaped or frustoconical.</p> |
