PURPOSE:To provide the picture processing method which prevents blur of the outline of in edge part and considerably relaxes a pseudo-outline to obtain a picture of high gradient. CONSTITUTION:This picture processing method is executed as follows; the luminance level of one picture element out of continuous picture elements of digital picture data where the luminance level of each picture element is expressed by n-bit data is subtracted from the luminance level of the other picture element to obtain the luminance difference, and the luminance change to one picture element from the other is obtained based on the polarity of the luminance difference, and the luminance level of the other picture element is raised by an extent corresponding to several bits of digital picture data in the case of the positive but that of one picture element is reduced by an extent corresponding to several bits in the case of the negative to perform the pseudo-outline relaxing processing. |
