A photographic material comprises a support bearing a hardened silver precipitating layer and an unhardened gelatino silver halide emulsion layer and the silver layer or an adjacent layer which is not the silver precipitating layer containing a semicarbazide to prevent hardening of the gelatine silver halide layer. The sodium salt of the semicarbazide hydrochloride is the specified semicarbazide. The adjacent layer, if present, may be a gelatin barrier layer between the emulsion and the precipitating layer or a layer overcoating the emulsion layer. |
