Take-off gear, for transporting concrete blocks away from a moulding station, includes means whereby the blocks may be selectively directed towards either an air hardening station or a steam hardening station. In the embodiment shown in Fig. 1, blocks moulded at 1 are transferred by a feeder 1<SP>1</SP>, lifting gear 2, and a transversely movable platform 3, to one of two steam hardening chambers 10. The hardened blocks are removed from said chambers back on to platform 3 and are transferred by lowering gear 5 from the platform on to a conveyer 7, whence they are placed in air storage chambers 9. If air hardening is required the blocks are transported directly to chambers 9 along a link 6 in conveyer 7, which link is slid transversely into position for air hardening and is retracted for steam hardening. In a second embodiment (see Fig. 2, not shown) the slabs are first conveyed to a steam chamber located at one side of the moulding station and then to a first storage chamber located at the other side of the moulding station by a pneumatic fork lifter. A removable link (6<SP>1</SP>) is again included in conveyer 7 so that the blocks may be fed directly to second chamber 9 for air hardening. In a third embodiment (Figs. 3 and 4, not shown) the blocks are conveyed to steam chambers either side of the moulding station by an overhead crane system, the conveyer 7 being connected directly to feeder 1<SP>1</SP>, without a link, so that the air drying chambers 9 9 may be used by merely rendering the crane system inoperative and the conveyer operative. |
