According to the present invention, the production of a thermoplastic resin hollow molded article of high quality using a molding machine having both a relatively simple structure and a relatively small size becomes possible by carrying out the following steps of: providing a molding machine comprising a mold including a mold half having a body and a slidable block; supplying a thermoplastic resin, which is in a molten state, into the mold which is in an unclosed state; pressing and spreading the thermoplastic resin to fill a cavity with the thermoplastic resin by mold clamping; injecting compressed gas into the thermoplastic resin in the cavity; moving the slidable block from a first position to a second position; and opening the mold to take out the thermoplastic resin hollow molded article.
