A water softening device for domestic dishwashing machines is described having an exchanger vessel (1), a salt vessel (2) and a reservoir (3) arranged above the salt vessel, which reservoir for regeneration delivers an amount of water into the salt vessel, brine from the salt vessel (2) overflowing into the exchanger vessel (1). With the aim of saving salt, it is proposed that the entire amount of water stored in the reservoir can be divided into two portions in a selectable ratio, and that one portion passes into the exchanger vessel (1) via the salt vessel (2) and the other portion passes directly into the exchanger vessel (1). The reservoir can be composed of a plurality of individual chambers which can be allocated, by means of a feed valve (guide valve), in a selectable ratio, to two channels, which lead to the two vessels mentioned. <IMAGE> |
