The device (S) is equipped with a clamping hydromotor (W) that is connected with a pressure source (P1,P2) or feedback (T) through a path control valve (J) in at least one of the active lines (5,6) and an electrical setting unit (E) for the clamping pressure. This setting unit has upstream of the path control valve (J) a pre-controlled setting valve (D) with a regulating element (11') loaded by a spring (11) acted upon by the piston (10). There is also a proportional pre-control valve (V) for setting the pre-control pressure and a safety valve (F) for holding this pressure in case of a fault or an emergency.
