PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a metal oxide capable of imparting an excellent batch-to- batch reproducibility, excellent dispersiblity, excellent flowability, excellent antistaticity and excellent caking resistance to toner compositions and developer compositions at a production cost by treating a metal oxide with a cyclic silazane. SOLUTION: A metal oxide, preferably silica, alumina, ceria germania, titania, zirconia or their mixture, or a fumed metal oxide, a cofumed metal oxide, a prescribed metal oxide, a gel-based metal oxide (such as aerogel, silica gel, xerogel or their mixture) or their mixture, is trreated with a cycllic silazane, preferably a compound of the formula R1 , R2 are each H, a halogen, an alkyl, an alkoxy, an aryl(oxy); R3 is H, a (CH2 )n CH3 [(n) is 0-3], CO(CH2 )nCH3 , CONH2 , CONH(CH2 )n CH3 , CON[(CH2 )n CH3 ](CH2 )n CH3 ; R4 is (CH2 )a (CHX)b (CYZ)c [X, Y, Z are each R1 ; (a)-(c) are each 0-6, (a)+(b)+(c)=2 to 6]. |
