PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a powdery preparation of dead cell of Clostridium butyricum usable as a safe growth-promoting substance as a substitute for antibacterial substance and viable microbial agent by using vegetative dead cell of Clostridium butyricum and a sugar and/or starch as essential components. SOLUTION: A vegetative dead cell of a microorganism of the species Clostridium butyricum (preferably Clostridium butyricum miyairi) and a sugar (e.g. glucose, fructose, sucrose, an oligosaccharide or lactose) and/or a starch (e.g. wheat starch, potato starch or corn starch) are used as essential components to obtain the objective powdery preparation. The number of vegetative dead cells is preferably 10<6> to 10<11> based on 1 g of the preparation. Preferably, the amounts of the sugar and the starch are 0.04-700 pts.wt. and 0.2-700 pts.wt. based on 1 pt.wt. of the vegetative dead cell of the microorganism of the species Clostridium butyricum, respectively. |
