摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain black smoking at the time of shifting-up, shorten the time for gear shift, and improve a driving feel, by providing a variable nozzle on the upstream side of the exhaust turbine of a turbo charger, and controlling the variable nozzle to the closing side at the time of shifting-up a mechanical automatic transmission. SOLUTION: To adjust exhaust flow rate to an exhaust turbine 7, a variable nozzle 8 is fitted, which consists of nozzle vanes disposed at uniform intervals at the periphery of a turbine blade. In a shift control unit, for example, when a shift detecting part 15 detects D-range setting, a driving condition is discriminated from engine speed and vehicle speed to control the operation of a shift control part 16 based on the discriminated results. When the shift control part 16 discriminates necessity of shifting-up of a shift gear stage, a turbo control part 18 is driven based on the output of a state detecting part 17 for detecting the shifting state of a mechanical transmission 3, it is controlled so as to throttle a variable nozzle opening to a prescribed opening determined from a nozzle opening map 19.
