PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sterilizing device capable recycling granules of a raw material to be sterilized such as a seasoning and a crude medicine without damaging the flavor component thereof and capable of precisely sterilizing spores of bacteria at a temperature of <=100 deg.C, and further to provide a method for sterilization. SOLUTION: This sterilizing device of granular food has a retainer 2 for charging granules which are a raw material to be sterilized, a stirrer 3 rotating in the retainer 2, a treating vessel 1 for housing the retainer 2 and carrying out a sterilizing operation, a warm water unit 6 for charging warm water to a warm water jacket 5 installed in the outer periphery of the treating vessel 1, an alcohol vapor generator for generating alcohol vapor in a constant concentration, comprising a reboiler 10 for heating and evaporating the alcohol vapor in a constant concentration, a separator 11 for carrying out gas-liquid separation and a charging pipe 12 connected to the treating vessel 1 and used for charging the alcohol vapor generated at the reboiler 10 and the separator 11, a vapor amount-controlling part for controlling the temperature, a vacuum cooling and drying device comprising a cooler 14 and a vacuum device 15, connected to the treating vessel 1 for cooling and drying the raw material after sterilization by evacuating the interior of the treating vessel 1, and a recycling circuit 13 for recycling the condensed alcohol in the treating vessel 1 to the reboiler 10. |
