<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To separate and recover the metallic zinc from the top dross at high yield by placing the top dross in a hot dip galvanizing bath into a storage case having small holes, heating the top dross to the prescribed temperature, and flowing the zinc adhered to the top dross out of the small holes in the storage case in the molten condition. SOLUTION: A steel strip 4 is drawn out of a snout 7, and passed in a hot dip galvanizing bath 3 to achieve the hot dip galvanizing. The top dross 5 to be generated and afloat on an upper part of the hot dip galvanizing bath is pumped out and into a zinc recovery device above the hot dip galvanizing bath. A storage case as a zinc recovery device 2 is provided with a plurality of ripening parts 12 of 1-50 mm in diameter in a bottom part and a side part, and heated to the temperature which is not less than the melting point of zinc and <=700 deg.C by a heat insulating means 13 such as a gas burner 9. Zinc in the top dross 5 is heated and melted, and dropped into the hot dip galvanizing bath 3 from the opening parts 12 to separate and recover the metallic zinc from the top dross at high yield.</p> |
