PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for removing an aromatic organochlorine compound in a waste gas to be treated, which is capable of oxidizing and decomposing the aromatic organochlorine compound including dioxin with a relatively inexpensive device. SOLUTION: Relating to the method for removing the aromatic organochlorine compound in the gas and the removing device, titanium oxide powder having <=0.07 mm particle diameter is mixed with the waste gas containing a trace quantity of the aromatic organochlorine compound to adsorb the aromatic organochlorine compound in the gas into the titanium powder having <=0.07 mm particle diameter, irradiating the titanium oxide, on which the aromatic organochlorine compound is adsorbed, with ultraviolet ray to oxidize and decompose the aromatic organochlorine compound, passing the reaction gas through a filter media under the irradiation with ultraviolet ray to allow to contact with the titanium oxide on the filter media surface to further oxidize and decompose the aromatic organochlorine compound in the gas. |
