PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a water-based ink for ball-point pens capable of preventing abrasion or deformation of a ball receiving seat by rotation of a ball in the ball-point pen tip to the utmost, ensuring the discharging properties and carrying out the long-distance writing by including a colorant, a specific resin and water therein. SOLUTION: This water-based ink comprises at least (A) water, (B) a colorant such as a direct dye, an acid dye, a basic dye or a pigment in an amount of preferably 0.1-40 wt.% (based on the total amount of the water-based ink) and (C) a resin such as xanthan gum or a polyhydroxypropylated guar gum in an amount of preferably 0.01-15.0 wt.% based on the total amount of the water- based ink. The ratio of the added xanthan gum and polyhydroxypropylated guar gum is preferably (7/1) to (0.5/1). |
