PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain inorganic particles capable of imparting a good light-diffusing effect without lowering total light transmittance, when a synthetic resin is compounded with the particles and subsequently processed into a sheet, and capable of imparting good blocking resistance and abrasion resistance, when added to films or fibers, by selecting the inorganic particles whose cross sections vertical to the laminated direction are substantially quadrilateral and which have physical properties such as a specific particle diameter. SOLUTION: This bellows-like inorganic particle whose cross section vertical to the laminated direction is substantially quadrilateral and which has the following requirements: 0.6<=(b)/(a)<=1.5, 0.8<=(c)/(a)<=5.0, (n)>=3, (S)<=1 and 0>=(DP1-DP3)/DP2<=1. Therein, (a) is the average length (μm) of an arbitrary one side of the quadrilateral cross section vertical to the laminated direction; (b) is an average particle length (μm) vertical to the side of (a) in the same cross section; (c) is an average particle length (μm) in the laminated direction; (n) is the average number of laminated layers; DP1-DP3 are particle diameters at total weights of 25%, 50% and 75%, respectively, started from the side of a large particle diameter in a particle size distribution; S is a relative standard deviation.
