METHOD FOR HIGH-FREQUENCY WELDING OF NONPOLAR THERMOPLASTIC ELASTOMER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for the high-frequency welding of a nonpolar thermoplastic elastomer and an article formed thereby. SOLUTION: The elastomer contains a polar modifier selected among (i) a copolymer obtained from the condensation reaction of about 10 to 90 wt.%, based on the total weight of the functionalized polymer and the polyamide, functionalized polymer with about 90 to 10 wt.% polyamide, (ii) the functionalized polymer and the polyamide in amounts mentioned in (i) and (iii) a mixture of component (i) with component (ii). The functionalized polymer contains at least about 0.3 wt.%, based on the functionalized polymer, at least one functional-group-containing monomer. It is desirable that at least 3 pts.wt. polar modifier is added to 100 pts.wt. nonpolar thermoplastic elastomer.
