PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject water-based ink capable of completely carrying out a high-density stable marking under a small tool force and completely erasing the marking by ironing by including a polyethylene emulsified and dispersed in water as a colorant therein. SOLUTION: This water-based ink for chalk markers contains a polyethylene emulsified or dispersed in water (preferably having 3-50μm particle size of the emulsion) in an amount of preferably 5-35 wt.% (based on the total amount of the ink) as at least a colorant. Furthermore, 3-20 wt.% of any of ethylene glycol, propylene glycol, glycerol, diethylene glycol and dipropylene glycol or an optional combination thereof is preferably contained as a humectant and the ink preferably contains ethanol and/or isopropyl alcohol and further 0.01-0.5 wt.% of xanthan gum or a soluble type water-soluble acrylic resin.
