PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medical instrument where antibacterial activity is given by forming the instrument by polymer of polyamide, polyurethane, and polyester as a raw material, and forming a cross-linking coat where antibacterial substance is ionic-bonded on the surface thereof. SOLUTION: A medical instrument such as IVH catheter or the like is formed by a polyamide polymer, a polyurethane polymer and a polyester polymer as raw material. A cross-linking coat is formed on the surface of the thus formed base material by interaction of a high polymer material having an acid anhydride group such as a maleic anhydride-ethylene copolymer and a compound having about two or more active hydrogen. Antibacterial substance is ionic- bonded to a carboxyl group of the cross-linking coat. As the antibacterial substance, basic antibacterial substance is preferable, and substance like amoxicillin may be used if it is ionic-bonded to a carboxyl group generated by hydrolysis of unreacted acid anhydride group in the cross-linking coat. Thus, a medical instrument where antibacterial activity is given can be obtained. |
