The invention comprises haloalkyl triazines of formula where X is bromine or chlorine, R and R1 are each hydrogen or C1-6 alkyl, and R11 is C1-6 alkyl. They are prepared by reacting a compound with elemental chlorine or bromine in an inert polar or non-polar solvent. The products are said to have herbicidal and nematocidal activity.
