A resilient heel support comprises a foot supporting plate 11 and a spring blade 12 joined together at their forward ends, the plate being free of the shoe itself, and the blade having a plane portion 19A'secured to the heel and a rearward upwardly inclined portion 19B which bears against the rear end of the plate and slides freely thereagainst during use. As shown the plate and blade are joined by rivets 13A, and securing nails 6 pass completely through large holes 8 in the plate and through smaller holes 5 in the blade. The forward end portion of the blade or the plate may be flattened slightly to facilitate joining. Figs. 7 and 8 show embodiments in which the blade and plate are made as a single member, and the blade has ears 20 to engage the plate. The plate and blade may both be formed of metal or plastic, or a metal blade may be joined to a plastic plate by a plastic portion of reduced thickness which acts as a pivot. The blade may be secured to the heel by cement.</p> |
