摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably and efficiently biologically deodorize by controlling the pH of a packing material layer to a specific range over the whole region of the packing layer to prevent the clogging of the packing material layer caused by a sludge generated by biological decomposition in the case of biologically deodorizing a sulfur based malodorous gas by passing through the packing material layer, on which microorganism is stuck. SOLUTION: A malodorous gas introduced in a biological deodorization column 1 from an intake pipe 2 flows in upward stream in the column 1, during being passed through the packing material layers 5A and 5B, the sulfur based malodorous component in the gas is biologically decomposed and the treated gas is discharge out of the system from a discharge pipe 4. In such a case, a strong acidic sprinkled waste water generated by the biological decomposition of the sulfur based deodorizing component is circulated to be reused as a sprinkling water to keep the packing material layers 5A and 5B to an acidity of pH 1.5-4. That is, the sprinkled waste water discharged from the bottom of the column 1 is taken out from a pipe line 10 through a drain pot 7, a pipe line 8 and a discharged water vessel 9 by a pump P, a part of which is returned to a sprinkling water storage tank 12 through a pipe line 11 and the remaining part of which is discharged from a pipe line 13 out of the system.</p>
